5 out of 5 stars Great value   May 12, 2010

I really don't like using a battery grip because it makes the camera so big in my hand, couple that with the 70-200 L or the 28-300 L lens and it's a heavy handfull. However, the video capabilities of the 5D Mark II, along with an extensive event like a wedding means I can't go through without at least one battery change without it.

This worked just fine for me. No problems, no lockups, and no battery change from the pre-wedding photos all the way to the end of the reception. The shutter button on the battery grip allowed me to shoot vertically with my hand in a natural shooting position, which helps me to keep the exposures straight. I really like it that there's a place to stash the battery cover on the grip so that I won't loose it.

Recently purchased it for my 5D Mark II and works great. Got up to 2 hours of video record time with the 2 batteries. One Major flaw though is that the camera doesn't read the product and cant measure how much battery is left.

4 out of 5 stars really good deal   May 17, 2010

This is a really great product for the price... assuming it works. The first one I got was touch and go... sometimes it would work and other times... well not so much. I sent it back and ordered another one in hopes that it was just a problem with that specific one. Fortunately it was! The new grip connected perfectly with the camera and was one almost 1/4 the cost of the canon battery pack. The only problem so far is that it doesn't tell you how much battery power you have left. I have my first wedding with this camera at the end of May so I'll be able to update this and let you know how long two charged batteries last. So far I've had the camera and battery grip for a little over a week and have been using the camera everyday and have yet to change the batteries out. I am pretty impressed. And again, if you get a dud the first time it's worth the cash to try again before going with the canon version of this.

The unit did not even come close to what it was supposed to do. It didn't work with AA batteries and would not work properly with two canon batteries.
