works as advertised, quick ship, good transaction June 24, 2010 Photoleif (colorado, usa) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Summary: viable off-brand alternative
Relevant experience: 2+ years using EOS line; 22+ years using SLRs; previous use of off-brand grip for XTi and motor grips for other SLRs
This grip performs exactly per the specification. It fits snugly against the camera body with no wiggling. The battery door closes tightly and securely. All buttons perform their assigned functions. I consider this a very acceptable alternative to the far more expensive canon part; no cons whatsoever. Another grip I purchased (similar model for an XTi from a different off-brand manufacturer) developed some cracking and shifting of the vinyl grip, but even that is minor in the big scheme of things... time will tell how this product performs, but I expect it should be stable for several years.
Based on this product's build quality, I would definitely consider purchasing other products from this manufacturer.
An added bonus for those photographers with large hands: this grip will likely help you since it increases your contact surface area quite a bit. I used to be able to put three fingers on one side of the tT2i, and now i can put all four on.
Good value, works fine July 16, 2010 Ummagumma (US - the cold part) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After an initial shipping mishap, I just finally got it and it works well. It's not as solid as Canon OEM grip, but still feels pretty sturdy. As long as it proves to be durable in a long run, the light weight is an advantage. A great way to improve ergonomics of Rebel series body without adding weight. Using camera in portrait orientation is much more comfortable now, thanks to the buttons on the grip (shutter, focus point selection, AE lock, and AV+/-). Landscape orientation is more comfortable as well, and it's easier to prevent camera shake when using the grip. Again, added size without much added weight is a big advantage.
The grip takes two batteries and the contacts end goes into the camera battery compartment (you can't have a battery inside the camera). The camera's battery compartment latch needs to be removed (easy to do, if you have to force it you're not doing it right). There's a place on the grip to store the latch. The one-page manual is in Chinese and English, the English part is well written and concise.
I would recommend this as an alternative to the much more expensive OEM grip.
Great Product July 17, 2010 Anthony Campo (New Hampshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My T2i felt too small before I ordered this. Now my camera feels like a "real" camera. It may be the best purchase I have made for this camera yet. Like many, I refused to pay for the Canon grip, so when I saw this, I ordered it right away. The shipping is quite slow, but well worth the wait. The item feels solid and not cheap and it makes the ergonomics of my T2i go from about a 6 to a 10. Highly Recommend
Wow. This battery grip is high quality and well priced. June 18, 2010 Jack Dausman (Washington, DC USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Wow. This T2i battery grip is perfect. Amazing price, and the build quality is indistinguishable from the T2i. Highly recommended. Works great.
Nice July 24, 2010 Stuntman Mike (Georgia) Got mine via UPS yesterday.
Good build quality. Feels great. They came pretty close to matching the T2i's textures.
Can you tell it's not made by canon if you sit there and stare at the camera? Yes.
Is this a SMOKING deal on a battery grip? YES!!!
I'll give it a 4/5 on build quality. That doesn't diminish the extra GRIP you get here, or the overall value of the product. I was scared of the camera being too big / too heavy. Not a problem at all.
All the buttons work and it fits the camera. It came with the AA adapter. I'm using two of the $10 batteries ( Power2000 LP-E8 Replacement Lithium-Ion Battery, 7.4 volt 1500mAh, for Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital Camera ) in the grip right now and it works great.
Extremely glad I purchased this product.
5/5
Mike.
